What are the procedures for arrival and dismissal at the Secondary school?

All students should aim to arrive at school by 7:45am. There will be no Senior Staff on duty until 7:30am, and consequently children should not be dropped off before this time. Parents doing so are responsible for their children’s behaviour and well-being.

Buses

Students who travel by bus will be dropped off at the bus drop-off point behind the cafeteria. This area is only for school buses and other school deliveries. Staff are on duty at the arrival point to ensure the students alight in a safe and orderly manner. The bus registers are passed on by the drivers to the Transport Office. Staff are also on duty at the end of the school day in this area.

Cars

All cars with drivers must arrive and leave from the first (main) entrance gate. The students will alight at the former bus bay at the rear carpark of school. Staff must be on duty to ensure that the vehicles are at a standstill when the students disembark and to ensure that there is no overtaking or double dropping off. Parent drivers should also use the first (main) entrance gate, with the drop off and collection point in the same place as drivers. Sixth form students driving to school should also use this gate and car park area.

Late Arrival

Students who arrive late after registration (8:10am) must report to the campus office where they will be registered by the receptionist.

Dismissal from the Secondary school

For dismissal, the drivers collect the bus registers from the Transport Office and the students’ attendance on the bus will be taken. This information is given to the staff on duty. If there are any missing students this will be checked with the staff from the Transport Office. Once the attendance is confirmed, students are told to fasten seat belts, and the bus departs. A member of staff will always be on duty at this point.

Cars driven by parents should enter via the main school entrance gate and wait in the car park beside the temporary classroom. Cars with drivers should use the same gate – staff on duty should prevent students from wandering down the line of cars to ‘queue jump’. They should ensure that the students are picked up from one point only.

Sixth form students must use the car park near the temporary classrooms.
