What is the procedure for lost property in the secondary school?

Although we endeavour to assist in the recovery of items, the Alice Smith School cannot be held responsible for any lost property. Students should not bring valuable items or large amounts of cash to school. Any items found by students in the Secondary Campus should be handed in to the Administration Office.

When an article is lost, the student should report the loss to the Admin Office if it is a ‘routine’ item during the first available break. If valuable, please report it immediately. The student must fill in a missing items report form. Students should first check the area and the Lost Property racks. All lost property must be claimed by the end of each term; any unclaimed lost property will be disposed of after one year.

Please ensure that all property and uniform is labelled clearly with the student’s name. This includes PE bags and each item of PE kit.

Students should check the Lost Property Box in the PE department and the Lost Property racks outside the Admin Office immediately upon losing an item.

Valuable and/or non-essential items should not be brought to the school. If an expensive item is brought into school, it is entirely at the student’s risk.

Any items of lost property, which remain unclaimed at the end of the day, will be taken to the main lost property area. It can then be collected from the Admin Office. No responsibility can be taken for unnamed lost property.
